sunday outing: tweed river art gallery

After what feels like endless weeks of rain there was finally a sunny day yesterday, I spent the morning making a DIY worm farm (details saved for another post!) and in the afternoon I met a friend at the Tweed River Art Gallery for a wander and a cup of tea.

I'm not normally one to sit and ponder works of art, but the exhibition by Brisbane artist Glen Skien did capture my attention. Anything with vintage postcards, stitching, and a bit of red will appeal to me. Glen has handwritten passages of text on the wall of the gallery to accompany his artworks, it was very simple and effective.

These images taken from Glen's website - Silent Parrot Press.

And this was the view from the cafe deck at the back of the gallery - spectacular! I could have sat there for hours, but a rather cranky waitress made a point to tell us that they were closing in 5 minutes, and they needed to pack up our chairs, quick sticks. Well, she didn't actually say 'quick sticks' but I'm sure she wanted to. Anyhow, the sun is shining again today, I'm hoping it will continue for a few more days so I can get outside and start to get my veggie garden ready.

Hope your week is a happy one!
